Thank you for purchasing Flume 1.0!
Unfortunately there is no possibility with the Mac App Store to provide upgrade-paths for existing customers from Flume 1.0 to Flume 2.0 and Flume Pro, thus we cannot offer upgrade discounts for customers that purchased Flume 1.0. You can continue to use all the features that you enjoyed in Flume 1.0 in the free 2.0 update*, with the addition of many free-features such as Instagram Direct, a new Explore section, and the continued regular functioning of Flume itself.
As mentioned in our initial blog post regarding changes to Instagram's developer network, Flume 1 had a end-of-life date of June 1st 2016. To help sustain the existing development costs and maintenance costs until June 1st 2016, an immediate and permanent reduction in the sale price was made as a sign of good faith, and we attempted to remain very open regarding the cut-off date, adding it to the top of our App Store description in all countries, and in all subsequent update release notes. Unfortunately these changes were out of our hands, and our only desire was to recover a small fraction of the development costs for the previous 2 years of development.
In early May 2016, just a month before Flume 1.0 was set to be removed from the App Store and shutdown, Flume 2.0 became a possibility. Since this required a substantial amount of redesign and redevelopment, the decision was to make this a major version update (1.0 -> 2.0). The cost of Flume Pro helps cover the development costs of Flume 2.0, including future maintenance and feature updates.
* with the exception of multiple-account support, all existing Flume 1.0 features continue to function in Flume 2.0. If you purchased Flume 1.0 and made use of multiple-account support, please contact us for more information (proof of purchase will be required).
